CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte mayoral candidate Anthony Foxx will participate in the inaugural online town hall hosted by CLTBlog.com on Sunday May 17, 2009. The event is open to the public and will be held from 7 – 8 p.m.
The town hall will be accessible at cltblog.com/live. The program will include the highest-ranked questions voted on all week long through www.anthonyfoxx.com and impromptu questions from the Twitter community.
Leading up to Sunday’s event, community members will be submitting questions pertaining to the state of our economy, importance of education and other issue-based questions. The purpose of the online town hall is to provide community members a chance to ask their mayoral candidate questions about his stances.
“We want to encourage more online dialogue between the community and Anthony Foxx,” said moderator Justin Ruckham of CLTBlog.com. “After he answers previously submitted questions, we will take live inquiries from the cyberspace audience. If someone’s question didn’t get asked, this will be the chance for them to ask Anthony.”
As of today, more than 25 community members have submitted questions for Foxx’s response.
“Overall, we want people to ask Mr. Foxx questions about his stances and give him an opportunity to present his issues,” said Ruckham. “We’re trying to push this democratic process forward. People’s decisions are going to be based on issues that are most important to them. Ideally, we would like to see 1,000 community members participate in this interactive event.”
Questions for the online town hall will be accepted until Sunday at noon. Those who wish to submit questions may do so by visiting www.anthonyfoxx.com, then clicking on the link about the town hall forum at the top of the homepage.
